Baronville – Along the Hileau and the Mill Loop

Baronville, a village shaped by earth, stone and water
Crossed by the Hileau, a tributary of the Lesse, Baronville has developed over the centuries in close connection with its natural resources. Its clay-rich soil long supported surrounding meadows and forests, while an ancient coral reef enabled the extraction of red and Byzantine marble, once highly sought after.
This heritage can still be seen today: an old mill built along the Hileau, a castle now privately owned, and a village centre marked by its rural and noble past — all features walkers encounter along the way.
Isabelle Embrechts, a sporty sponsor deeply attached to her region

Originally from Beauraing, Isabelle Embrechts is well known in the local sporting community. A physical education teacher, she practised volleyball for many years. Baronville holds a special place in her personal story: it is where she often visited her grandmother and where she met André, who was also actively involved in sports.
The couple married in the village church in 1988 — a meaningful memory that strengthens their bond with Baronville. Accepting the role of sponsor of the Baronville walking routes was therefore a natural choice for Isabelle, eager to contribute to local life and promote her region.
Passionate about hiking and cycling, Isabelle and André regularly explore the routes around Beauraing, combining them in their own way, map in hand. What Isabelle especially enjoys about walk no. 1 are the open viewpoints offering magnificent panoramas over the Famenne and the Meuse Valley:
“A beautiful walk for experienced hikers.”
They also enjoy sharing these walks with family and friends, proud to introduce them to the simple and authentic beauty of their home region.
