For this new stop, let\u2019s explore the paths of Beauraing together with Bruno Peeters, godfather of Walk No. 1. A route combining open landscapes, local heritage and remarkable viewpoints.<\/p>\n

Beauraing, a perfect destination for hiking<\/h2>\n

In the heart of the Famenne region and at the gateway to the Ardennes, Beauraing stretches across a vast and varied territory of 174.55 km\u00b2, making it the 7th largest municipality in Belgium.<\/p>\n

This richness is best discovered on foot, along walking routes linking open landscapes with emblematic places of the area: the lime kiln, the former tannery, the sanctuary and the Castel Park<\/a>, recently redeveloped and appreciated today for its green surroundings.<\/p>\n

Bruno Peeters, guardian of a region close to his heart<\/h2>\n

For Bruno Peeters, this walk is much more than a route: it is a part of his life. He grew up here, and every corner brings back memories: the small turnstile on the narrow path leading to the castle, once used to keep cows from passing, his grandfather\u2019s house \u2014 a former inn \u2014 or the quarry where, as children, they could hear the echoes of dynamite blasting.<\/p>\n

What he loves most are the wide open spaces and the diversity of the landscapes. His favourite spot? The viewpoints above Wancennes, offering exceptional panoramas.<\/p>\n

He walks this trail in every season, fascinated by the changing light that constantly transforms the scenery. It is this ever-renewed emotion that led him to become a trail guardian<\/a>, now helping to care for the route and maintain its quality.<\/p>\n

Accessible to all properly equipped walkers, the route may however require walking poles during wet periods, especially on the descent towards the castle. Above all, Bruno describes it as a peaceful and restorative walk.<\/p>\n

Walk No. 1: panoramic landscapes and peaceful countryside paths<\/h2>\n

Walk No. 1 in Beauraing starts at the Tourist Office and quickly leaves the town centre behind. A picturesque path leads walkers towards the castle grounds before climbing to the heights above the town.<\/p>\n

The route then continues towards Wancennes, a village located on one of the highest points of the municipality. From there, 360\u00b0 panoramic views open over the Famenne and the Ardennes, revealing the region\u2019s characteristic landscapes.<\/p>\n

Between meadows and open countryside, this walk charms visitors with its peaceful and rural atmosphere. The loop ends gently through the Castel Park<\/a>, passing its ponds and recently reforested areas.<\/p>\n
