Located in the municipality of Beauraing<\/strong>, in the heart of Wallonia<\/strong> and the Famenne-Ardenne UNESCO Global Geopark<\/strong>, the village of Javingue-Sevry<\/strong> has around 350 inhabitants<\/strong>. This peaceful and picturesque village<\/strong> lies on a ridge that separates the Ardenne<\/strong> to the south from the Famenne<\/strong> to the north. Its calcareous-schist soil<\/strong> reflects the geological richness typical of this natural region.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Javingue-Sevry is a quiet village of about 350 inhabitants. It is situated on a foothill separating the Ardenne (to the south) from the Famenne (to the north). The soil is chalky.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Saint Stephen\u2019s Church in Sevry<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

The parish church of Saint Stephen<\/strong>, built in 1862<\/strong> in a neoclassical style<\/strong>, is one of the key landmarks of Sevry. Its main feature is the funerary slab of \u00c9tienne-Nicolas de B\u00e9riot (1727)<\/strong>, bailiff of the County of Agimont<\/strong>.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

The Tower of Sevry<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Built in the 15th century<\/strong>, the Tower of Sevry<\/strong> is a remarkable structure measuring about 7 metres long and 8 metres wide<\/strong>. Constructed from sandstone and limestone rubble<\/strong>, the tower has three storeys<\/strong> and a slate roof<\/strong>.
It is attached to a farmhouse dwelling<\/strong>, rebuilt in 1900<\/strong> using the same materials, as well as to an old ch\u00e2teau<\/strong>. Today, the entire site has been converted into a rural holiday home<\/a><\/strong>, offering a typical Ardennes setting<\/strong> for a stay in Beauraing.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

The old watering trough of Sevry<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Dating back to the 19th century<\/strong>, this circular watering trough<\/strong> made of large slabs of blue limestone<\/strong> was once fed by a small public fountain, known locally as a borne-fountain<\/strong>. This rural remnant<\/strong> is a fine example of traditional village life<\/strong>.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

The Ch\u00e2teau of Javingue<\/strong> was once the residence of the bailiff of the Provostship of Agimont<\/strong>. This traditional stone mansion<\/strong>, built in 1770<\/strong>, is surrounded by a tree-lined park enclosed by walls and wrought-iron gates<\/strong>. Although it is a private property<\/strong>, the ch\u00e2teau remains a symbolic landmark of local heritage<\/strong>.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
